Shapes of Japanese style

Japanese traditional culture, art and craft survived through the ages, sometimes adopting foreign cultures. "Shapes of Japanese style" with its theme Light & Shadow propose new types of furnishing in which traditional Japanese shapes, aesthetic and sensibility refresh contemporary interior and lifestyle.

Tamakushige is a beautiful case that encloses cosmetics, such a comb. "Tama" means the beauty. When we feel that a woman applies cosmetics and dresses herself for someone, we just notice her way of life and affection.

For Kasane lights, it was used a material regarded as an optimum for the lead of the gold of classical performing arts Gagaku since ancient times, it's a plant that is friendly to the environment. Moreover, by using bamboo paper with non-wood paper using local bamboo, bamboo papers can prevent deforestation and conserve the environment of satoyama.

This is a pottery washbasin. Ordinary pottery, however, isn't translucent. Thanks to the invention of the patent clay which allows light to pass through, it was possible to make "light-up" washbasin". It's hollow inside and equipped with energy-saving and ecological LED.

"Fusuma paper" is an interior material using in Japanese house. Arranging the traditional material with contemporary design, tailored tapestries decorated company's space and personal interior.

Lamp being surrounded by a stencil of "Washi" (Japanese handmade paper used for dyeing stencil of Kimono) is used to express "In praise of shadows". Thanks to this traditional stencil techniques which is called "Katagami" in Japan, enabled this artwork be created.

Japan is a beautiful country with four seasons. The inspiration of this lamp are snow, moon and flowers using arranged traditional patterns, Japanese paper, glass and LED lights, which allows you to imagine such seasonal changes and feel traditional Japan.

Japanese people have a typical sense of beauty such as "Kehai" and "Ma" from the light and shade. Japanese paper was settled in succession and it makes very delicate rhythm and gradation by the light. This Japanese paper was made by typical technique called "Mizukiri", and it purses Straight form.

Rather than a wholesale reinvention, the project reads as a continuation: a property rebuilt around what made the original site significant in the first place.
