In Out Studio is an Architecture and interior design specialist in corporate projects based in Madrid directed by Nayra Iglesias, whose work has been mentioned on international press for its innovative nature.

PASSION IS THE WORLD THAT PERFECTLY DEFINES IN OUT STUDIO.

  • How did you understand that you wanted to deal with interior design?

Nayra Iglesias: When I was a child, I was fascinated with the scenography of the Hollywood musicals, I was a dancer till my 20s so in my mind it was all about the Golden Age aesthetic, art deco, fascinating atmospheres, color, music and tons of vintage glamour. So as an "amateur artist" it was so natural that I started to be interested in architecture & interior design.

  • What was your first job/project?

My first project was the holistic design of a nightclub. I developed the corporate identity, interior design, and execution as an Architect. It was a challenge for the first project, a huge responsibility but I can say that 12 years later this nightclub remains the same so time has proved my work right.

  • What inspires you to create new projects?

I found my inspiration in my constant travels sometimes are travels to megapolis ( I´m very urban) like NYC or Paris or to places with an extremely rich nature such as Thailand, but my place we are always come to charge my mind is my home town, Gran Canaria. There is no better inspiration than is surrounded by the ones you love and also be able to practice one of my fav sports surfing!! As you can imagine in Madrid there is no surfing at all.

  • How important are the details within a project? And the choice of the materials?

I'm obsessed with details, for me they are the definition of quality, everything is about details. We work a lot in the luxury business because we can develop very refined spaces where every little element has been designed.

Our goal is to create timeless interiors so we select carefully all the materials in our project to be faithful to our commitment. This is also a sustainable decision, we believe that quality is better than quantity, so it would always be better for our planet to design an interior that lasts long rather than ephemeral interiors.

  • What spaces do you prefer to design? Residential houses, Hotels & Restaurants? Or commercial spaces?

I'm passionate about design so I don´t have preferences but love challenges so designing a new category of space is another source of inspiration for me.

  • Do you have a particular project that you liked? Why?

I made my dream come through when I could design the Manolo Blahnik boutique at Barcelona. He is an icon for me, one of the greatest and last master for the fashion business as also an islander from the Canary Islands like me.
