New beach-front fashion boutique opens at the Mandarin Oriental in Bodrum
Working with Raisa Vanessa’s founders, twin sisters, Raisa and Vanessa Sason, Sanayi313 Architects has highlighted the idyllic location on Paradise Bay, Bodrum, by creating a summery environment that is both striking and welcoming. Inspired by the colours, textures and the stark geometry of the house in the Hollywood Hills designed by the architect Ricardo Legoretta in 1988 for the actor Ricardo Montalban, Sanayi313 Architects has blended raw and natural materials inside the store in a nod to the house’s Mexican influences.
Stepping into the store from the beach, terracotta paint has been used to make a bold statement, with monochromatic ceiling and walls creating the illusion of more monumental proportions. The simple, yet eye-catching colour scheme is also reflected in the matching display plinths that help draw attention to the Raisa Vanessa collections on display.
“It was such a pleasurable experience to take the bold luxury of Raisa and Vanessa Sason’s brand and translate it into a simple, yet eye-catching space that also pays homage to the architecture of Ricardo Legoretta. The result is a chic seaside oasis, for Bodrum’s fashionable set.”
- Enis Karavil, Founder of Sanayi313 Architects
True to Sanayi313 founder Enis Karavil’s mantra of “maximalist expressions in minimalist details” the store has been designed with a pared back choice of materials. The design also uses minimalism creatively, contrasting a palette of coarse plaster, concrete and pebbles with Raisa Vanessa’s dramatic and maximalist brand identity.
To bring the spectacular Bodrum exterior location in, the floor is divided into concrete squares with pebble borders. Floor-mounted brass clothes rails, accessories, hooks and oversized mirrors with rounded brass feet create an interesting contrast to the materials used in the design scheme, referencing the brand's luxurious style.
One of the focal points in the space is a is a botanical sculpture designed by Turkish flower artist Yunus Karma. Boasting a spectacular mix of hydrangea, amaranthus and bear grass, the art piece is suspended from the ceiling and its bright combination of burgundy, pink and yellow tones perfectly offset the terracotta colour scheme and complements the brands sumptuous clothing and accessories.
