Eclectic residence

July 8, 2019

Tommaso Ziffer completed the private residence in Rome characterized by different colours and materials.

The inspiration of colors of this project comes from the fashion collections of the 80’s in which, Yves Saint Laurent, for instance was between the firsts to mix orange and purple.

The living room is a kind over “tower” (Altana) overlooking the Tober River and just in front of the Isola Tiberina (the only island on the Tiber River) so the Panoramic wallpaper reflects the roman views around it but on a “silver” background so during the day the whole room shines as a magic box and reflects the outside.

The client is a goodlooking lady and the flat was once her father’s apartment, he was an intellectual and living as a single man. The presence of many books created a quite sad color scheme, so now the designer wanted to change it completely using the different colors, especially on the stairs.

Precious silks and velvets, contrasting with a monochrome resin flooring, like if the walls would live in their own life, literally fluctuating. The place is full of light with amazing views on the old historic part of Rome called Trastevere, Princess Caracciolo has an interesting collection of modern Italian art, From Mario Schifano to Mario Ceroli to Michelangelo Pistoletto who did a portrait of her and her children.
