Poltrona Frau chooses the Design Italy platform

Apr 15, 2023

With over 110 years of history and culture of leather, the symbolic material of the brand since its inception in 1912, Poltrona Frau - protagonist of high-end Made in Italy furniture and ambassador of Italian excellence in all over the world, has chosen the Design Italy e-commerce platform as the ideal partner to expand its worldwide presence.

The collaboration, officially active since March, sees Poltrona Frau and Design Italy deeply share values such as tradition and innovation, made in Italy and craftsmanship, in line with their history which has its roots in the tradition of 'Italian know-how'.

“We are very proud of the results we are achieving: the doubling of turnover in 2022 compared to 2021, and the forecast of a further doubling in 2023; the agreement signed with Cassina and signed last February; and now the partnership with Poltrona Frau, thanks to which we can claim to be the only marketplace specialized in 100% Made in Italy design in the world.”
Roberto Ferrari, CEO of Design Italy

Poltrona Frau is synonymous with sober Italian elegance, excellent manufacturing and an inseparable union between tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and technology. Create essential and elegant objects inspired by tradition but designed with the future in mind, to provide solutions for global living.
The luxury leather goods market (which refers to the sector of preparing fine leather and the subsequent production of articles) is the heart of Made in Italy. From research and development to the creation and industrialization of the final product, all the world's luxury companies rely on Italian expertise to bring their collections to life. Italy is in fact one of the world's producers and exporters of leather goods and luxury leather goods. In 2022, the Italian market in this sector reached a value of 2.40 billion dollars, with growth prospects up to 3.43 billion in 2027.

The tanning districts present in the Belpaese are diverse: from that of Solofra in the province of Avellino, specialized in leather tanning for the production of clothing, leather goods accessories and footwear, to the Tuscan leather district where the tanning activity was known since Etruscan times, up to Tolentino in the Marche region where Poltrona Frau moved its headquarters in the 1960s, winning the challenge of applying the craftsmanship of leather processing (typical of the place) also to the furniture sector.

Tradition and innovation still coexist today and not only in the brand's iconic products such as the Chester Armchair or the 1919 inspired by the British Win chair in a more romantic and feminine version, but also in the choice of designers who over the last 20 years have led the brand to be requested all over the world: from Jean Marie Massaud, to Roberto Lazzeroni, via Gio Ponti and Michele De Lucchi, up to Roberto Palomba of the Palomba Serafini studio.
Innovation that sees today Poltrona Frau choose the services of Design Italy to expand its presence in the world. On the brand page, already active on the Design Italy platform, many products are available including the very famous and timeless Chester and the Archibald series (sofa, pouf, armchair, chair), all of which can be purchased with a simple click.
Design Italy, as a digital partner, will provide Poltrona Frau with its marketing, technological, logistical and dedicated customer care support, which follows the customer in all phases of product selection and purchase, up to after-sales, guaranteeing an experience unique and personalized.
