Parisian-style luxury

November 15, 2019

The intimate new La Réserve Paris-Hotel and Spa is in keeping with the establishments bearing the Michel Reybier signature in Geneva and Ramatuelle. Far removed from the spirit of traditional 5 star palace hotels, this hotel is reminiscent of a private urban mansion, open to guests who share a particular philosophy of travel.

The typically Haussmann-style architecture of an address dedicated to French lifestyle proved an ideal playground for decorator Jacques Garcia, who was chosen by Michel Reybier for his particular affinities with this era. La Réserve Paris – Hotel and Spa displays the style of a period down to the smallest detail, in harmony with the spirit of the place. Like a nod to those in the know, a few photos of the family and vineyards belonging to Michel Reybier, owner of the Domaine de Cos d’Estournel in the Bordeaux region, bid you welcome. From the first
steps on the Versailles parquet, the spectacular staircase soaring upwards captures the eye. All around are immense spaces bathed in light, barely muted by the rich fabrics of the hangings. Here and there, beautiful marble fireplaces and everywhere the joy of huge indoor spaces,
typical of early 19th century Haussmann apartments – an all-but-forgotten generosity.

Echoing the finely wrought façade adorned with Corinthian columns, the architectural interiors are reminiscent of the traditional canons of the era. Renovation work revealed historical ornamentation, woodwork, moldings and cornices that had been forgotten and concealed behind partitions and false ceilings. Other vestiges of the original building were also found, particularly in the Salon Louis XV. All in all, a precious foundation that strongly inspired Jacques Garcia in his plan to recreate the period ambiances. In every suite and room, the walls are thus graced with a delicate play of carved moldings, finely worked cornices and decorative sculpted friezes. Engraved Cordovan leather frames the doors of the lifts and the contours of the bar, while embossed motifs adorn the corridors around black and gold lacquered doors.

Representing the ultimate privilege, the green surroundings of the hotel in the very heart of Paris are the stuff of dreams! With its plantations of orange trees in pots and Versailles style planters, the landscaped entrance designed by Pierre-Alexandre Risser’s company, Horticulture et Jardins, pays tribute to the Sun King’s Orangerie. The lobby, the interior courtyard and the terrace on the first floor are also well-endowed with
plants, featuring shrubs and plantations that change according to the season.

The 26 suites and 14 rooms at La Réserve Paris – Hotel and Spa offer a refined reflection of the quintessence of 19th century Parisian chic. Silk hung walls, damascene brocade taffeta, velvet drapes, waffle weave fabrics, herringbone oak parquet, unique pieces of antique furniture. Rooms are spacious and the atmosphere can be adapted at will thanks to an interactive tablet that controls the TV, the temperature and the lighting. The bathrooms in Carrara and Turquin blue marble are equally spacious and mostly bathed in natural light.

More than just a suite: an authentic Parisian apartment all to oneself. Interpreted in a palette of four gentle shades, all the suites at La Réserve Paris – Hotel and Spa are different. They are unique, both on principle and for the sheer pleasure of discovering in each instance a distinctive place imbued with original charm. A Steinway grand piano in the Presidential suite, to improvise a few notes facing the Grand Palais. A period fireplace in another, to enjoy afternoon tea in front of a crackling fire. A library area lined with historical tomes and a leather-clad desk. A private outside balcony to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine, while admiring the Eiffel Tower. Extraordinarily spacious premises to experience Paris “on a grand scale”, as if in a Belle Epoque apartment. Spread out between the first and fifth floors, their generous floor plans range from 50 to over 200 sq.m., and some feature communicating doors.
