Modern Calm Meets Gulf Glamour: LEI Interior Design at Mina Azizi

November 11, 2025

LEI Interior Design has been recognized with the Best Luxury Apartment Interior Design award for Mina Azizi, Palm Jumeirah, in Dubai, UAE. This impressive honor from Luxury Lifestyle Awards reflects a thoughtful and design-led renovation that redefines what modern beachfront living can look and feel like.

Rethinking Space with Purpose

Originally built in 2021, the four-year-old residence had strong bones but lacked resonance. Its dark finishes and closed-off layout failed to reflect the surrounding views of the Arabian Gulf, despite the property’s coveted Palm Jumeirah location. The client, preparing for relocation to Dubai, had a distinct brief: a home ready to move into with no need for additional setup, tailored to the region’s climate and lifestyle, and designed with sophistication and comfort in mind.

LEI Interior Design approached the renovation with clarity, stripping away heavy architectural elements in favor of clean lines, open volumes, and panoramic windows. The apartment’s structure was reworked to maximize flow, natural light, and a direct relationship to the sea. The transformation went beyond aesthetics. It was a complete reimagining of how the space could live and breathe.

Challenges That Shaped the Design

A project of this calibre comes with its share of complications. One of the major hurdles was sourcing materials that were not only luxurious but also durable and aligned with the project's vision. The marble chosen for the powder room, for example, was a rare variety with a dramatic, book matched veining pattern. It took extended coordination with international suppliers to ensure consistency across slabs. The result is a space that feels as sculptural as it is serene.

Equally challenging was the procurement of custom parquet flooring, specified in a very particular tone and finish. Achieving the right texture meant sourcing across multiple vendors and adjusting timelines to allow for shipping delays. These decisions, while complex, were necessary to fulfil the apartment’s minimalist but tactile character.

Minimalism Without Compromise

The design philosophy behind Mina Azizi revolves around subtle expression and refined contrast. A restrained color palette allows materials to speak—travertine, fluted oak, brushed bronze, boucle textiles, and rare stones are used in deliberate combinations. Custom-designed furniture pieces, such as dining consoles and vanity units, match the scale and rhythm of the architecture, reinforcing a unified visual language.

Storage solutions are integrated into the architecture, preserving the calm, minimalist mood while supporting day-to-day living. Hidden panels, flush cabinetry, and soft-close systems keep the focus on the purity of form and material. Lighting was designed as a layered experience—bespoke fixtures, cove lighting, and LED accents respond to different times of day, adjusting the atmosphere with precision.

Smart technology adds another dimension. Climate control, window treatments, and lighting are all connected through an integrated system, enhancing comfort and energy efficiency. These features are executed with discretion, never disturbing the space’s visual clarity.

Sustainability at the Core

Environmental considerations were fundamental to the project’s planning and execution. The apartment features energy-efficient LED lighting throughout, as well as smart systems to optimize heating and cooling. All paints and sealants were low in VOCs, contributing to healthier indoor air quality.

LEI Interior Design selected durable natural materials to reduce future replacements, and the construction process followed a low-waste approach—repurposing offcuts where possible and donating surplus supplies. From FSC-certified wood to long-life finishes, sustainability was embedded at every level, without ever compromising the luxurious tone of the home.

Designed for Life in Dubai

While the apartment’s interiors project a calm, understated elegance, the design also responds intelligently to its geographic and cultural context. Materials were chosen with the Gulf climate in mind, and the layout was optimized to keep interiors cool and shaded when needed, while still inviting in expansive sea views.

This isn’t designed for show—it’s designed for daily life, elevated. The home is meant to welcome the client into Dubai with ease, reflecting both the sophistication of the city and the intimate comforts of a well-designed space.

A Clear Perspective on Contemporary Living

LEI Interior Design’s renovation of Mina Azizi is a masterclass in refined restraint. Rather than overwhelm the senses, the apartment invites calm, focus, and a deeper appreciation for light, space, and material. With this project, the studio has created a residence that aligns with the highest standards of luxury, while remaining grounded, warm, and liveable.
