New finishes by Cattelan Italia

April 18, 2023

Cattelan Italia is pleased to present its new 2023 collection at Milan Salone del Mobile.

"We have focused the creative approach for 2023 on the idea of taking the necessary time to appreciate every detail. Our ambition is to create projects that need to be contemplated and assimilated, reviewed over time and transferred to places that bring new aspects to the fore according to the style of the surroundings. A good design comes into being in a precise moment and context, but it must have the characteristics to last a lifetime along with chameleonic versatility."

In creating the 2023 collection, Cattelan Italia is concentrated its efforts on a few pieces with an unmistakable design and on expanding the range of finishes, to further refine the already rich product portfolio. Details and materials truly characterise the Cattelan Italia style: that which enables to take a piece of furniture and turn it into a design object.

The new Borghini Calacatta finish expands the Cattelan Italia ceramic sample collection to a total of 14 variants. Each with its own precise aesthetic code and character.

Borghini Calacatta marble is a remarkable product of nature, prized all over the world – and not only because it has been the marble of choice for many artists throughout history, notably including Michelangelo. This typical Italian marble has unparalleled veining. We have selected and faithfully reproduced the natural texture, drawing inspiration from its colour-saturated veins that stand out against a delicate ivory white background.

The slab has two types of overlapping veins that run along its length. The main one is wide and soft, with streaks ranging from intense ochre to shaded grey, while subtle ripples on the surface conjure up a rich texture in bright colours, with brilliant orange and warm grey strokes. Finally, the entire surface is veiled by light capillary veins that increase the nuances and irregularity of the base colour.

This finish comes in Glossy and Matt ceramic versions. It is offered for the tops of tables, coffee tables, consoles, desks, TV stands, and for the tops or entire structure of some sideboard models.

The leather sample collection is being updated and expanded to provide an even more comprehensive range of colours. Several newly introduced nuances will satisfy our customers’ requests for neutral and delicate shades that recall the tones of nature, majestic rocks and dusty earth. The search for greater contact with nature, through organic materials and colours, is a fast- growing trend that is changing the aesthetic codes of our time.

The 2023 catalogue is thus complemented by two new groups of fine leathers: stones and earths.

The stones include two tributes to the masters who shaped the area where Cattelan Italia operates and more besides: the architect Andrea Palladio and the sculptor Antonio Canova. The stone- inspired leather collection is rounded out by the shades Dakota and Nardò

, the latter having now become a trend and a prerogative, especially in the world of fashion and motors.

The earth-inspired colours, on the other hand, feature warm and welcoming tones, each with its own intensity and aesthetic value. Nymph has a sensual and seductive character, like the multifaceted deity from which it takes its name. Cashmere is a reassuring nuance suitable for creating elegant and comfortable atmospheres. Lastly, Siena and Canyon take the names of two places with intense earths that are already well established in the collective imagination: the first has an organic tone, while the second is simply captivating.

Glove leather is a collection of even finer leathers including a selection of exclusive colours. The smooth, soft surface renders the shades bright and intense.
