Building on the success of previous years, Lisbon Design Week continues to grow, offering five days of immersive design experiences across the city. This year’s edition features over 95 participants — including galleries, studios, shops and brands — and more than 250 creatives, known as “makers,” who are shaping Lisbon’s dynamic design landscape. The programme expands into two new neighbourhoods, Ajuda/Belém/Restelo and Beato/Marvila, reflecting the event’s mission to extend its reach and highlight the city’s diverse creative communities.
A key innovation this year is the launch of a digital platform designed to help visitors navigate the programme and discover the makers behind the projects. The initiative is further strengthened by ongoing partnerships with major cultural institutions, such as MUDE – Museu do Design, which hosts the Young Design Generation exhibition, showcasing emerging talent. In 2025, Lisbon Design Week embraces digital innovation with the launch of a new website, with a Progressive Web Application (PWA) designed to allow visitors to personalise and plan their itin- erary according to their interests. Launched in early May, the bilin- gual Portuguese/English platform will make it easier to explore the week’s events, exhibitions, and venues, as well as the designers featured in this edition. The new platform is not only designed to support the Festival, but will also serve as an ongoing resource for design-related content. The website was developed by ABM Studio, known for their work on cultural and artistic platforms, in- cluding Les Rencontres d’Arles and the Louis Vuitton City Guides.ο»Ώ

The flagship exhibition of this edition of LDW is co-curated by Spanish studio MUT Design (founded by designers Alberto Sánchez and Eduar- do Villalón, AD100 Spain) and Portuguese designer João Xará. The exhibition will feature objects by more than 20 designers, both emerging and estab- lished. The participation of the Spanish Designers in this Exhibition is made possible thanks to the Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture (PICE ) of AccioΜn Cultural EspanΜola (AC/E).
Young Design Generation Open Call Exhibition at MUDE
This exhibition is the result of a partnership between Lisbon Design Week and MUDE - Museu do Design, an initiative that invited emerg- ing creatives to present their work. This year’s edition saw a record 157 submissions, from which the jury selected 20 pieces. The works will be showcased in dialogue with MUDE’s long-term exhibition ‘What Are Things For?’, offering a platform for young talent to engage with the museum’s cultural legacy whilst introducing fresh perspectives.
On Friday 30 May in the auditorium at MUDE, Lisbon Design Week will host a series of talks inviting the wider community to reflect on design as a tool for understanding and engaging with the world around us. The morning session, Design Otherwise, will explore transdisciplinary ap- proaches to the Human, the Nonhuman, and the Other. Afternoon dis- cussions will focus on Safeguarding the Savoir-Faire and Empowering Local Creators. The day concludes with a book signing by French de- signer Emmanuel Babled “La Main des Autres” Monograph Book 2024.
