A Journey into a Fairytale World Along the Chao Phraya in Bangkok

August 17, 2026

Set along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the Salil Hotel Riverside – Bangkok can be reached by its private boat, offering guests an arrival that feels less like a simple transfer and more like the arrival in a world of imagination, art and mythical creatures.

Conceived with two guiding principles
"Be daring, be imaginative", the Salil Hotel Riverside - Bangkok is an immersive universe where design, creativity and relax come together. The hotel unfolds across three distinctive buildings, each inspired by the mythical creatures of Air, Water and Land, creating a dynamic canvas where traditional Thai heritage meets contemporary artistic expression. The whole artwork has been curated by the renowned art curator Jay Soonthornsawad and the talented Thai artists, each with their own distinctive style:

  • Nattapon Pichairat: Surreal illustrations with thai inspirations
  • Nakrob Moonmanas: Collages created from vintage materials that tells a new and interesting story.
  • Panyawat Phitaksawan: Contemporary art with a variety of art techniques
  • Atthakrisna Vannason: Water paintings brought to life with unique style.

“The overall art and design concept is a Journey of Dreams. We want guests who visit the project to embark on a journey to discover the fantasies of mythical creatures along the Chao Phraya River. Design elements are also inspired by a trip along the river in the past, which is the main form of travelling. Guests will find many different mythical creatures in a more contemporary approach.”

Jay Soonthornsawad

Once stepping off the boat, the journey continues through the courtyard, where restaurants and lifestyle spaces are distributed between the first two buildings, while a large outdoor UV-treated swimming pool creates a tranquil centrepiece. Further into the complex, the third building houses the reception and wellness.

At the
Reception guests can immediately feel the atmosphere of magic. Here, the collaboration with Thai artists extends into every detail, from the hotel's visual identity to the uniforms, room cards, furniture and decorative accessories. It’s possible also discover and purchase selected accessories by The Salil Collection, a local brand whose philosophy is rooted in the belief that "Product Design Matters". Each piece reflects impeccable craftmanship and a fidelity to Thai cultural heritage, transforming the experience of the hotel into something that can continue beyond its walls.

On the third floor, the atmosphere shifts towards wellbeing. HARNN Heritage Spa Riverside is conceived as a soothing retreat dedicated to restoring the natural balance of body and mind, drawing inspiration from the theory of the five elements, traditional Asian medicine and naturopathy. Treatments and products are thoughtfully designed with personalization and sustainability and deeply connected to the philosophy of holistic wellness.

Next to it, the Fitness centre continues this approach with a contemporary space framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, where state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment makes it possible to maintain a wellness routine while surrounded by inspiring views.

The wellness journey reaches another dimension at the top of the building, where The Rabbit Moon Aquatherapy introduces a completely different approach to relaxation. Bangkok's first rooftop aqua therapy pool offers spectacular views over the river, combining nine hydromassage stations with 50 jet streams designed to stimulate circulation, release tension and improve flexibility and range of motion. Guests can move through the circuit at their own pace or take part in guided programmes, surrounded by a sensory environment where specialised lighting uses eight colours and 18 different scenes to transform the atmosphere. Here, water, light and the ever-changing panorama of the city create a deep sense of calm and balance that promotes better sleep and total physical rejuvenation.

Moving through the complex, we find Karmakamet  aroma store, overlooking the swimming pool. Known for creating scents in an extraordinary variety of styles, the brand invites visitors to connect with an intimate and almost secret world of memories, emotions and imagination.

The shopping also extends to Mars The Wine Space - a vintage wine bar with the convenience of a carefully curated wine shop, and KANVELA that celebrates the art of Thai chocolate.

At the heart of the hotel, architecture and landscape come together around the expansive Swimming pool, which almost appears to be embraced by the buildings that surround it. The architecture creates a sense of enclosure without ever feeling closed, allowing the pool to become a peaceful oasis at the centre of the property. The pool hosts also a jacuzzi and a dedicated children's, making this central space both an intimate retreat and a lively social heart.

From the courtyard, the Chao Phraya remains constantly present. The river can be glimpsed between the buildings, offering a visual connection to the life of Bangkok beyond the hotel. This is also where the property's culinary world comes alive, with a selection of restaurants and bars creating a destination within the destination.

Among them is NAVA, the hotel's main restaurant and the setting for breakfast. Its riverside location is deeply connected to the history of Thailand, when the Chao Phraya was the lifeblood of transportation, community and sustenance. The menu draws inspiration from this heritage, combining local recipes, carefully selected ingredients and stories from communities across the country. Artisanal products sourced from Thai community enterprises are transformed into dishes that celebrate the country's culinary identity, allowing every bite to become a small journey through Thailand's rivers, people and traditions.

In the afternoon, NAVA takes on a more leisurely rhythm with an Afternoon Tea experience, inviting guests to discover a selection of fragrant teas accompanied by sweet creations and local delicacies.

The culinary journey continues with different restaurants for each taste:

  • at Brix, dessert-making becomes an art form, from rich chocolate creations to fresh, fruity desserts, complemented by expertly brewed coffee and fragrant teas. The adjacent Brix Mini Bar adds a more relaxed atmosphere, serving burgers, salads and flatbreads alongside smoothies, craft beers, cocktails and an indulgent brunch selection.
  • Sushi Itto, Japanese restaurant where tradition and craftsmanship guide every dish, with sushi presented as a journey through precision, dedication and the brilliance of each ingredient.
  • THE S offers a distinctive interpretation of Italian cuisine, combining carefully selected ingredients with techniques drawn from Italian, French and Japanese culinary traditions.
  • The Lobster Riverside brings the spirit of Bangkok's legendary Chinatown seafood scene to the river. Fresh catches are prepared using a combination of Western and Asian techniques, celebrating the culinary heritage of one of the city's most vibrant neighbourhoods.
  • El Paso, Iberian-inspired restaurant that offers the tapas in Thai revision, creating a lively riverside dining experience where two culinary cultures come together.

Following the main path towards the river, the hotel gradually opens onto its riverside area, where dining experiences are complemented by relaxed lounge spaces and panoramic views of the Chao Phraya. One of the highlights is the River Club, an experience that feels particularly magical as the sun goes down. Guests can enjoy drinks and Thai-inspired dishes while watching Bangkok transform around them, with the river reflecting the lights of the city. It is a place to stay a little longer, surrendering to the rhythm of the water and the energy of Bangkok after dark.

For craft beer enthusiasts,
Taproom by the River offers another way to experience the riverside, with 26 rotating taps and more than 100 bottled beers from brewers around the world – an inviting destination for those looking to discover something new while enjoying the river breeze.

The hotel's 235 Rooms & Suites continue the same attention to detail found throughout the property. Spacious, bright and thoughtfully designed, they combine contemporary aesthetics with a warm sense of comfort. Parquet flooring, sensory lighting and refined textiles create an atmosphere that feels sophisticated yet welcoming, while even the smallest details – including the Salil casual provided for guests – contribute to a feeling of being completely cared for.
The suites take the experience even further. In the Riverfront Balcony Suite, a private foyer leads into a separate, elegantly furnished living room, while a walk-in wardrobe, full refrigerator and luxurious bathtub add an extra level of convenience. The private balcony opens towards magnificent river views, creating a serene setting where the movement of the Chao Phraya becomes part of the experience.

Across the hotel, the focus on sustainability is integrated into the guest experience, reflecting a contemporary approach to hospitality that seeks to combine comfort, creativity and environmental awareness.

At the Salil Hotel Riverside - Bangkok, the journey is never limited to the room or the amenities. It begins on the river, continues through courtyards filled with art and mythical creatures, moves through scents, flavours and water, and ultimately leads back to the Chao Phraya.

The Salil Hotel Riverside - Bangkok does not simply tell a fairytale, it invites you to step inside one!

Located in Freycinet National Park, Tasmania, the Freycinet Lodge has been in operation since the 1990’s. Having acquired the property recently, RACT Destinations was keen to upgrade. RACT sought tourism advice from Brett Torrossi, to help steer the sensitive project. Liminal was then commissioned to transform the visitor experience through the conceptualisation, design and delivery of nine pavilions tailored to celebrate the scenic qualities of the unique setting. The Pavilions provide a point of difference to the existing 60 cabins, offering a quality, contemporary, eco-sensitive, site specific experience. Liminal drew inspiration for the new Coastal Pavilions from the fluid topography of the nearby bays and layered coastal granite rock formations, while paying homage to the character of the National Park they nestle into.
