L'Éléphant crafted bold, chic and cosmopolitan interiors in a 200 m² Lisbon apartment

April 2, 2024

The Portuguese interior design studio L’Éléphant designed the interiors of a house located in the trendy neighbourhood of Príncipe Real, in Lisbon's city center.

The client purchased a recently renovated flat in Lisbon that required specific decoration according to her taste and personality. She travels around the world and wanted a residence in the Portuguese capital that could represent her style and make her feel at home whenever she returns here.

"The idea was to create a setting that not only mirrored our client’s character and way of living — sophisticated, cosmopolitan, bold — but that would also portray her home country of Brazil. We resorted to a mixture of colours and textures with a few bespoke pieces to create a unique space."

The result is a vibrant and modern space with an ample living room spilling onto the dining room, a master suite, and a guest bedroom, all of which are sustained by her love of colour, textures, and unexpected elements that makes everything come together and portraying her home country of Brazil.

'I want a house that makes me happy when I arrive' — this was the intention in the entrance hallway; a joyful, sophisticated space that clearly shows we’re entering a bold house.

The room living is very long, spanning the entire width of the building and has therefore been divided into three different areas: two living areas and a dining area. The designers intentionally wanted them to be different, playing with fabrics and patterns.

The master suite has an elegant and modern style. The designers covered the walls in natural silk, used silk in the curtains with another texture and played with that overlap.

While guest bedroom has impactful and comfortable design thanks to the Indian-inspired wallpaper.

The overall lighting is technical, almost invisible. The designers used a few vintage, as well as contemporary, chandeliers in several key areas.
