Inside a Haussmannian apartment with neo-art deco accents in Paris

April 2, 2022

Maison Numéro20, under the leadership of designer Oscar Lucien Ono, has fully redesigned a Parisian apartment in the heart of the capital, on the very chic Avenue Foch, a few steps from the Arc de Triomphe.

The new design is a contemporary, sophisticated and elegant décor that plays with the codes of classic Hussmann.
From the entrance, the neo-art deco spirit of the apartment is asserted through a play of geometric shapes and contrasts between the white and black marble that covers the floor. The blackline marks the different rooms, like a thread that animates the space, and can be found on the details of the curtains, the cushions, the rugs in the bedroom and the floors.

Sculptural furniture is all in-depth: a tripod table designed by Maison Numéro 20 in Sahara marble and brass, wrought metal chairs from Pouenat, and rattan armchairs designed by Atelier 55, whose roundness and high backrest recall the motifs of the glass roof. Above the table, a light fixture with brass detail appears to levitate and illuminate the room. A pedestal table designed by Hélène Paoli, as well as a brass armchair with a bronze patina and an ultra-comfortable white seat designed by François Champsaur, complete this sculptural furniture set with precious materials.

The references to art deco are very present in both the marble lamps by Pierre Chareau and the stool in Macassar ebony (MCDE gallery), but also the screen that unfolds in shades of gold and black. This screen reflects the glass by its graphic patterns and its colors that are very reminiscent of the30s. Animal references are present in the art from the Cyril Guernieri gallery: a bronze bird sculpture by Marc Vellay and a patinated copper gazelle sculpture by Francisco Moretti. A panther on the piano also recalls the refined decoration of the inter-war period, as does the white curly chair designed by Maison Numéro 20, reminiscent of the spirit of Pierre Paulin's creations. Finally, a massive plaster sculpture created by Philippe Valentin brings a whimsical Cocteau-like touch to this interior.
