Terracotta palette

Based in New York City, Mariana d'Orey Veiga studio completed a loft located in the prime of Greenwich village, Manhattan, a block away from the water and close to every café and restaurant in the neighborhood the client couldn’t have found a better area.

This originally a two-bedroom apartment with a more traditional feel was completely transformed in a loft with an open layout: the spacious duplex has a flexible office/guest bedroom situation downstairs with a wall bed that converts into a full size bed or an office desk allowing the area to be clear and amplifying the living space.

The client, the passionate about yoga, requested a sanctuary within the chaos of Manhattan, so the studio tried to incorporate some elements into the décor while mixing it up with references that he liked, mid-century modern for instance. The overall feel of the loft is very calm and organic, the color palette chosen is very earthy and so are the materials hence the dining table, custom made by Poliform with Emperor Marble, a choice Mariana fell in love for the project because of all its details, the brown tone with irregular veins throughout. It was perfect!

The floors were stained in a hazelnut shade and run throughout the whole loft, they are complimented by the abundance of natural light that comes in thru the over-sized windows in the 15 foot ceilings space, the sleek staircase leads to the main sleeping room, where he requested an extremely clean space. The art throughout the apartment mostly came with him and reflects his travels and his South American roots.

For the sitting area one of the client's requests was a big sofa: the custom made piece with the L shape is upholstered in a wool cashmere blend and according to him, “ It hugs you when you sit down, it is all I've ever wanted ”.
