Rockwell Group teams up with LASVIT to create Costellation
Leading interdisciplinary architecture and design studio Rockwell Group has collaborated with LASVIT, the award-winning, Czech-based experts in lighting and architectural glass installations that merge centuries-old Bohemian glass making techniques with cutting-edge technology and design.
Rockwell Group was keen to create a series of lights that hint at a deeper universal story, while providing a dramatic focal point in any room. Each piece is named after a recognisable constellation —
Cassiopeia chandelier
has five circular illuminated glass domes that mimic the organic form of the Cassiopeia constellation with its distinctive “W” formation. With a bigger footprint,
Ursa Minor is a chandelier composed of 7 illuminated glass domes. The chandelier’s low profile is perfect for smaller, residential spaces.
“Our design was inspired by the iconic and expansive celestial ceiling mural in Grand Central Terminal’s Main Concourse. The original mural was painted in 1913 and features 2,500 stars and numerous constellations, all set against a brilliant turquoise background. Grand Central is one of my favourite landmarks. It is a true celebration of arrival and anticipation, and the ultimate meeting place for strangers and friends alike.”
David Rockwell
Chandeliers
The Cassiopeia Chandelier and Ursa Minor are horizontal chandeliers with Smokey glass domed light points connected by a metal structure, like a star chart. Looking up at the chandelier is like viewing the expanse of the cosmos within an intimate environment. Rather than a typical pendant chandelier, the uniquely engineered Cassiopeia expands horizontally, hugging the ceiling and creating a modern accent in intimate living or dining spaces.
Wall Sconce
The Tri-Star wall sconce is made up of three central light sources enclosed in layered glass domes of different sizes and connected by metalwork.
Tri-star (wall sconces), Gemini (table lamp) and Polaris (floor lamp) complete the collection and are all composed of a similar toolkit of elements, including glass domes and subtle matte metalwork in a choice of either Champagne Gold or Titan Black. Fully flexible and modular in design, each LED luminaire is additionally up lit or backlit for enhanced glow and dimensionality and credibly imitates the luminance of starlight. The signature glass dome, that features throughout, contains a metallic coating that emits a depth and vibrancy even when the light is off.
Table Lamp
The touch-activated Gemini table lamp is a small-scale version of the floor lamp. The height of the lamp is 24 inches high and 8 inches deep. A portable way to celebrate the quality and functionality of the lighting components, observed up close and personal.

Floor Lamp
The touch-activated Polaris floor lamp features a straight, metal post with a singular, two-sided domed light source at the top and a round, black metal base. The globe is illuminated by a floating light source within its nucleus. Reflectors enhance the light source, creating enhanced illumination. The floor lamp has a stature and elegant strength that evokes its namesake, also known as the North Star -- a guidepost used for navigation.
