Paradis Apartment

August 28, 2024

The founders of Club Paradis, Albane Paret and her business and life partner Micha Pycke, projected  unveil the interiors of a curated holiday apartment with spectacular sea and harbor views in Ostend, Belgium.

From a year-long shared love for the city of Ostend, design, art and hospitality, Paradis Apartment is a domestic project and a curated space for the promotion of contemporary artists, designers and makers. Available for short and long stays, as well as for events, meetings and shoots, the two bedroom apartment of 97 m² sleeps 5 and serves both as a holiday escape and an inspirational place to sleep, meet, share and dream.

Paradis Apartment is not a static concept, but a moving, versatile and evolving project. It’s not a gallery, nor a showroom or a shop, but a curated space where the works and objects are put to everyday use, away from the sacredness of the museum and the whitecube.

As an experiment in self-organization and a questioning of the spaces in which one can present design and art, the apartment refers to the early days of people like Leo Castelli, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Gavin Brown, who all started their careers in the art world by staging exhibitions and presentations in their own domestic places like their living rooms, kitchens, or even hotel rooms.

Almost all of the works, furniture and collectible design items in the apartment are for sale, including works by Coseincorso, destroyers/builders, HAY, LERRY ceramics, Middernacht & Alexander, Bernard Dubois, Christoph Hefti, Lukas Gschwandtner, MANIERA Gallery, Muller Van Severen, Rooms Studio, STACK, Tekla, valerie_objects and Vormen. The kitchen was designed by Atelier Ternier. The artworks by John Baldessari, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Sam Durant, Armen Eloyan and Max Pinckers are all editions of artlead.
