Design China Beijing: responding to the new normal with design

September 14, 2020

From Residential to Retail – 3rd edition of Design China Beijing will present inspiration and innovation for a post-Covid 19 world from 23rd to 26th September in the Chinese capital.

Zhuo Tan, Director of Design China Beijing and Design Shanghai, comments, “we are very pleased to present this year’s Design China Beijing. 2020 has been a challenging year, but we have managed to overcome many obstacles with our designer friends, exhibitors and partners to bring this year’s first major design show to Beijing.

Design Thrives to Revive the World in a Post-Pandemic Age
Design China Beijing’s theme this year is “Design Thrives to Revive the World” and continues to focus on sustainable design. The challenges the design community faces after the pandemic go far beyond creating a chair, a carpet or an interior decoration item. The show will seek to redefine the connection between design and sustainability, for the sake of our own health but also for the planet. Good design will remain a testament to this everchanging time we live in and will determine the outcome of business and restructure how we work.

Design Brings New Opportunities
As a premium platform for international brands to gain visibility in China, Design China Beijing has always attracted leading design brands from all around the world. This year’s exhibitors include Walter Knoll, Zieta, Gufram, Interstul, Abet Laminati, NychairX, Lange production, Modernista, YOHJI YAMAMOTO, Humanscale, Shaw Contract, Kinnarps, Flokk, Interstuhl as well as Chinese brands Maxmarko, Xue Design and Thrudesign.

Materials x Design
“New
Materials & Applications” in 2019 proved to be a popular section, so Design China Beijing 2020 will expand this section into the newly curated “Materials x Design”. This section features the most cutting-edge materials in a futuristic space and showcases interior design based on the idea of “future social distancing”. “Materials x Design” brings a wide range of materials to visitors as well as design products made of innovative materials. Visitors may also participate in workshops to get first-hand experience with new materials.
