Bohrer Arquitetos blends colors and textures to design a Cosy, Vibrant Apartment

G&G _ Magazine • January 22, 2025

Completed in 2024 in Curitiba, Brazil, the apartment features a contemporary aesthetic that merge Scandinavian minimalism with modernist influences, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere.

Spanning 103 square meters, the carefully coordinated color palette is dominated by neutral tones like beige and off-white, creating a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. Bohrer Arquitetos designed an open-plan layout that seamlessly connects the living room and kitchen, enhancing both visual fluidity and functionality. A natural stone accent wall, paired with earthy tones and soft surfaces, creates a tactile interplay of materials that adds depth and invites warmth. Curved-line furniture, like the armchairs and sofa, softens the rigidity of hard materials, enhancing the sense of comfort. Natural light is maximised through large windows, complemented by contemporary light fixtures that offer an artistic and functional touch.

The neutral palette is punctuated by subtle accents, such as light wood chairs and vibrant red details in the kitchen, creating a focal point without compromising the design's sobriety. The round dining table, finished in light wood, reinforces the natural and organic aesthetic of the space. The kitchen’s textured stone wall covering brings a tactile layer that contrasts with the softness of the furniture.

The choice of furniture reflects a pursuit of simple forms and natural materials. The chairs, with curved backs made of light wood and wicker seats, evoke Scandinavian design, while the slatted wooden coffee table contributes to a contemporary and artistic atmosphere. The use of renowned design pieces, such as architecture books and Bauhaus-inspired elements, reinforce the project’s intellectual and modern personality.ο»Ώ

The plants were strategically placed to bring life to the apartment without overwhelming the visual harmony. With a focus on functionality and an aesthetic that values comfort and visual lightness, the result is a contemporary, sophisticated, and timeless environment.
