GCA Architects’ Hotel Room for Palmira at Interihotel BCN25

October 28, 2025

Palmira and GCA Architects unveil a room concept Praise to the Essential, celebrating the authenticity of materials and the elegance of simplicity. In a moment when travelers value emotional well-being and disconnection, the proposal reflects a new approach to Hotel Design, creating spaces that evoke tranquility, sensory experience and genuine comfort.

From October 21 to 23, 2025, at Fira de Barcelona - Gran Via, Interihotel reaffirms its position as the leading meeting point for professionals and brands shaping the design of hotels and restaurants. Among the standout presentations, Palmira and GCA Architects showcased a collaborative proposal that reflects on the essence of pleasure and redefines the way hotel spaces are experienced. With over 50 years of experience, Palmira is a benchmark in the contract furniture sector, celebrated for its quality, versatility, and ability to adapt to the unique identity of each project. While GCA Architects, an international studio of designers, architects, and engineers, brings a forward-looking vision, artisanal sensitivity, and commitment to innovation, delivering a holistic approach that spans every stage from concept to completion.

The design challenge lay in creating a more humanized, essential, and honest space, one that offers moments for pause, reflection, and introspection. Light has been the main compositional tool. Warm, uneven, and naturally intentional, it creates moments rather than rooms, guiding the visitor through an intimate, contained sequence.

“We wanted to pay tribute to a room that doesn’t seek to impress, but to welcome. An honest space, capable of generating calm and connection with oneself even amid the bustle of a fair.”

Andrea Navarro, architect and partner at GCA Architects

Noble materials (oak wood, metal, natural fabrics) define an enveloping space that, far from exhibitionism, seeks to evoke emotion through simplicity. The project also features the collaboration of local brands, artists, and artisans who enrich its sensory narrative: Maderas de Autor via Distiplas (flooring), Bang & Olufsen via Zentrum (audio), Vergés Design (furniture), Santa & Cole (decorative lighting), Teixidors (textiles), Shon Mott (clothing), Alicia Gimeno via Obra Art (art), Anas Rifi-Zinati (ceramics), and Byredo (aroma and fragrance).

“At Palmira, we believe true luxury lies in the essential. This project with GCA Architects has allowed us to explore simplicity as a source of pleasure and to show how design can be a vehicle for calm, beauty, and well-being... This space reveals the importance of designing from both functionality and lasting emotion.”

Clàudia Ferrer, Marketing Manager at Palmira

All the furniture has been manufactured by Palmira, showcasing its ability to deliver comprehensive turnkey projects that combine technical precision with material sensitivity. This proposal is Palmira’s second consecutive participation at Interihotel and GCA Architects’ first and it stands as a manifesto of honesty and essential beauty, where design acts as a catalyst for the human experience.
