Cape Town’s hidden gem

October 17, 2019

Exclusively, G&G _ Magazine did a special tour by an award-winning boutique lodge nestled at the base of the ocean-facing Table Mountain National Park - Tintswalo Atlantic.

Sitting at the foot of Chapman’s Peak, Tintswalo Atlantic is perched on a pebbled beach and enjoys panoramic views of the picturesque Hout Bay harbour, the dramatic Sentinel mountain peak, and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

Tintswalo Atlantic presents all the luxuries of a world-class hotel, including beachside dining, long hours of leisure and personalised service. The public areas have been decorated in the signature blue and turquoise shades by the owners, mother and daughter team Gaye Corbett and Lisa Goosen.

In the public areas of the hotel, stylish and inviting lounge areas have idyllic sea views and are set around cosy fireplaces. At mealtimes guests are seated on the sprawling wooden deck to enjoy the fresh sea breeze at the shoreline, while in cooler weather the elegant dining room with its open kitchen enables diners to enjoy an interactive dining experience.

The Tintswalo Atlantic dining room provides a picturesque, cosy setting to enjoy beautifully-presented and delicious cuisine. Paying special attention to guest’s dietary requirements and desires, the Tintswalo Atlantic kitchen team endeavours to create memorable meals from fresh, locally-sourced and sustainable ingredients. The lodge dining room leads out onto an expansive wooden deck, and enjoys sublime ocean views and fresh sea air. Inside, the open-plan kitchen layout offers interactive cooking opportunities to guests who might enjoy sipping a glass of wine while watching the chef prepare meals, or discussing cooking techniques with the head chef.

With ten beautifully styled luxury Islands Suites and a magnificent 2-bedroom Presidential Suite, taking inspiration from some of the most interesting islands from around the world.

Each of the suites has a unique design and theme – paying tribute to the beauty of nature and the rich heritage of its surroundings. So they are individually designed and decorated and named after some of the world’s favourite islands, from Robben Island, Madagascar and Zanzibar, to Java, Corsica and Sicily.

All suites have a lounge area with a wood burning fireplace, and a tea and coffee station with an espresso machine, as well as a private deck overlooking the ocean and the pebbled beach below. Spacious en-suite bathrooms also have sea views and walk-in showers, couple’s double basins and huge Victorian baths with a selection of fragrant soaps and pampering bath products.

Tintswalo Atlantic is lauded as one of Cape Town’s best sunset spots. A temperature-controlled pool with a sundeck and loungers overlook the Atlantic Ocean where guests may daydream, soak up the sun or toast the sunset when the sun dips into the horizon.
