Outdoor Spaces That Speak to the Soul

For Jardins Tramuntana, landscape architecture is an emotional endeavor. Every outdoor location, whether a sprawling estate or an intimate outdoor space, is envisioned as a sanctuary that resonates with the spirit of its surroundings. Their process begins by connecting deeply with the client’s wishes, weaving personal stories into the land itself. No two exteriors are alike—each one reflects the rhythms of nature, the heritage of Mallorca, and the imagination of those who will experience it.

The creative journey starts in their studio, a hive of inspiration where ideas germinate and designs are born. Then, their Garden Building division turns these visions into reality, ensuring that each outdoor space flourishes exactly as intended.

Reviving History at Son Bunyola Hotel

The Son Bunyola Hotel project perfectly encapsulates Jardins Tramuntana’s philosophy. Situated on a historic 16th-century estate protected by UNESCO, the challenge was immense: to honor the site’s past while giving it new life as a luxury hotel.

Mobility for guests needed to be enhanced without disturbing the natural environment. To address this, the team implemented Nidagravel technology, which stabilized gravel surfaces for easier accessibility while maintaining the rustic charm of the property.

Botanically, every decision was steeped in respect for the land. Native Mediterranean flora was carefully preserved, with landscapes composed of ancient olive trees, fragrant lavender, and vibrant local blooms. Water management was a top priority in this dry region; the design included innovative solutions like rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, and smart irrigation systems that dramatically reduce water consumption.

The result is a landscape that feels effortlessly alive, where earthy tones meet vibrant floral accents, and every element—from a terracotta pot to a winding stone pathway—invites visitors into an authentic Mediterranean experience.

A Celebration of Natural Beauty and Craft

Jardins Tramuntana is known for creating designs that balance the natural landscape with the artistry of human hands. Nowhere is this more evident than at Son Bunyola.

From handcrafted railings made with native Olive Tree wood to thoughtfully placed Italian terracotta planters brimming with citrus trees, every feature tells a story. The exteriors echo the centuries-old heritage of the site, not as a static museum piece but as a living tribute to Mallorca’s enduring beauty.

One of the most enchanting spaces is the interior courtyard, where star jasmine perfumes the air and ancient columns loom elegantly. More than 20 terracotta pots add layers of texture and greenery, filling the space with life and energy. Pathways lined with irregular Mallorcan stones lead guests to the solarium and the pool, creating a tactile connection to the island's natural heritage.

Evolving with the Seasons

Rather than imposing static designs, Jardins Tramuntana embraces the ever-changing spirit of the seasons. Their outdoor environments are not fixed in time but evolve year-round, reflecting nature’s endless cycles. In spring, colorful bursts of roses and violets enliven the landscape; in summer, the sun dances off centuries-old olive trees. In every season, the natural architecture offers fresh perspectives and sensory delights.

This sensitivity to change enhances every visitor's experience. Each return to a Jardins Tramuntana space reveals new colors, scents, and moods—ensuring that their outdoor designs remain eternally captivating.

Nature, Sustainability & Art in Perfect Dialogue

Sustainability is not simply part of their approach—it’s embedded in every choice they make. Native plants that thrive naturally in the Mallorcan climate reduce water needs and promote biodiversity. Rainwater harvesting and smart irrigation systems minimize environmental impact without sacrificing beauty.

Soil hydration techniques, such as Biogel and innovative irrigation mats, reflect their ongoing commitment to creating external areas that are as responsible as they are stunning. Every project reinforces the vital connection between human beings and the natural world.
